Fostering Saves Lives, Too!
Each year, our need for fosters at Whiskers and Tails grows as we continue to help more animals! Pets are placed in foster homes to help them grow, get socialized, and thrive. Fostering is an important role because you are saving lives and helping prepare homeless animals for their new families!
You can start fostering today with no experience necessary! Fosters receive around-the-clock support from W&T staff members and all medical needs are taken care of and paid for by our generous donors.

You can become a foster
Nursing Mom and Babies
Too young and vulnerable for the shelter environment, fosters keep pregnant and nursing moms, and newborn babies in their home until they are old enough for adoption. This is usually the longest type of foster we have, and will last 3-4 months on average.
Bottle Babies
Bottle fosters are puppies and kittens anywhere from 1-2 days to 2-3 weeks old who are without their mother. They require bottle feeding every few hours until transitioning to soft and solid food. Depending on the age of the baby, this could be anywhere from 4-8 weeks.
Adult Animals
Not every pet is ready for adoption when they arrive at our sanctuary. This could be because they need to be spayed or neutered, they might need some quarantine time, or they might just need some socialization. You can help an adult pet by providing a temporary home before they become available for adoption.
Medical Animals
Provide care for animals recovering from medical treatment or surgery. All medical treatments take place in partnership with another veterinary resource. We provide all needed supplies and medicine; you provide a quiet environment for the pet to recover in.
