Surrendering Your Pet
There are a multitude of reasons you may need to surrender your pet. These may be that you are moving and cannot take the pet with you due to residency restrictions. Maybe you just cannot afford your pet anymore. Sometimes pets become unsafe for children or other occupants in the home, or maybe the pet has shown a change in temperament causing concern for general safety. While we work to help you keep the pet in the home, we understand that is not always possible. We do ask that you be as honest as possible when filling out the surrender questionnaire, as this will help us get your pet into the right home. Remember, this is stressful on the pets as well and change can cause some behaviors to worsen. If you wish to surrender an animal other than a dog or cat, please reach out to us for referrals. This includes reptiles, rodents, exotics, birds, insects, and livestock.
Although not required, we do ask that any pet surrendered be properly vaccinated and altered. Please give us all medical records for the animal. We will gladly send any other pet belongings with the pet if it is adopted. These items would be crates/cages, bedding, toys, medications, or other supplies.
